EAJS Congresses and Colloquia

The Association has organised nine international congresses since it was founded in 1981. These are now held every four years. In the intervening years, the Association hosts summer colloquia in Oxford on a range of subjects with a smaller, invited group of scholars.

There will be a Call for Proposals for a theme for the colloquium, which will be co-ordinated by the successful applicant, who must be a member of the EAJS. The colloquium co-ordinator will be responsible for inviting participants and issuing a call for papers, setting up and running the academic programme, and supervising all academic aspects of the colloquium. The EAJS provides considerable administrative support in that it co-ordinates and submits the funding application and is responsible for arranging the venue and accommodation. EAJS members wishing to submit a proposal for co-ordinating a colloquium should contact the secretary daniel.langton@eurojewishstudies.org.

In addition, the Medieval Hebrew Poetry Colloquium takes place bi-annually under the auspices of the EAJS. The first of these was the 3rd EAJS Colloquium in 2000, and there have been five subsequent colloquia. Details may be found here.
